So I Trusted the Book and Chose Between Nanowrimo and the Long Game

For the three years I’ve had this project on my radar, I’ve known writing the fight scenes would kick my ass. I could do the set-up for scenes of all the other kinds, prepare my characters, yell “Action!” and watch a version of the story unfold. If it wasn’t what I wanted, I could change it up and try again. But whenever I got to the fight scenes…nothing. I was missing some foundational thing, and I wasn’t sure what.
